Default My PvE Thumper Build

hi guys, i would like your thoughts and suggestions on a new pve thumper build i recently came up with.

[Irresistible Blow][Hammer Bash][Crushing Blow][Never Rampage Alone][Heal As One][Antidote Signet][Charm Animal][Sunspear Rebirth Signet]

expertise 11, hammer mastery 11, beast mastery 11

(sorry i dont know how to insert a full build template into a post)

i wanted something atypical to what most people use and i find this build to be very effective at applying extreme pressure to single targets. ive been playing around with different skills and this seems to work very well. im not looking to take out mobs all at once as many ppl do with pve thumpers, and with this build ive found that im able to tank and keep up single target pressure indefinitely through a fight. any thoughts or suggestions?

Build Template Posting

[build prof=R/W Expertise=10+1 Hammer=11 Beast=10+1+1 desc="Needs Hammer"][Irresistible Blow][Hammer Bash][Crushing Blow][Never Rampage Alone][Heal As One][Antidote Signet][Charm Animal][Sunspear Rebirth Signet][/build]

Seems okay to me. I've always figured thumpers to be more geared towards HA play though.

12+1+1 on expertise so your energy doesn't explode fyi if you get blurred or blinded. You don't need BM at 12.
It'll be 12+1+1 Expertise, 10 Hammer Mastery, 8+1 BM.

thanks for the link.

thumpers really are geared towards pvp, i made this build just as a fun alternative to my typical bow builds, and to include my dire black widow, as its the only build i really use a pet in other than tombs bp groups. its refreshing to get more up close and personal every once and a while.

Weapon Spell. (20 seconds.) +10...20 weapon damage and 20...40% chance to cause knock-down with attacks. Cannot self-target.

gg.

In my opinion, i'd swap Irresistable for Cyclone Attack, but otherwise looks good.

Your pet can kd too with an IAS. You don't need sunspear rebirth signet. That's what I would drop for whirlwind attack(you'd have to whirlwind then hammer bash so you don't kill your adren first).

It's for use on the pet.

The build mainly sucks in comparison to your common Warrior, as does any Ranger pretending to be something else. It can be fun to play with though, I admit.

i never said i wanted to replace a warrior, obviously no one can do a warriors job better than a warrior. i just wanted to try to bring some sort of thumper build to pve. and yes it is very fun to play which is more important to me than being the best tank available.

the main problem i have with [Whirlwind Attack] is that it is an adrenaline skill. the reason i bring [Irresistible Blow] is that it is an energy skill and something reliable i can use while waiting for [Hammer Bash] to be ready.

Well, why not bring use Whirlwind Attack before Hammer Bash?

Or better then, go Earth Shaker.

As for the melee position - It's not entirely tank.

If you really want to run a PVE thumper try something like this.

[skill]hammer bash[/skill][skill]Crushing blow[/skill][skill]ferocious strike[/skill][skill]Great Dwarf Weapon[/skill][skill]Never Rampage Alone[/skill][skill]Comfort Animal[/skill][skill]Charm Animal[/skill][skill]Optional[/skill]

well ive done 3 or 4 hardmode missions plus a bunch of nm missions with the build i posted and i havent run into any enemies that have stayed alive long enough to warrant bringing a daze-inflicting skill. besides my bro usually brings his bha margrid when he's with me. once i get eotn i will def look into [great dwarf weapon]

Why in the world do people still use [skill]Crushing Blow[/skill] when one can easily use [skill]Pulverizing Smash[/skill] if they have EoTN? This is a great skill to replace crushing blow. As for thumpers, in general, they are fun and can wack the best opponent when played well. I also enjoy leaving the pet at home sometimes to get my hammer ranger on.

It is fun to do.

yeah, cause hammerbash doesn't remove all adrenaline or something.

WHOOOOOOOOOPS

edit; knockdowns might come from the pet + weapon, but that's not safe enough. crushing blow is still FTW.

+damage is fun. Also, being a ranger, your energy isn't going to really limit you, so crushing being an energy skill isn't so bad. 10s recharge is arguably more spammable than 4 adren recharge too.
